Peter McKiernan - EMCS Group Associate
Professor Peter McKiernan is a Non-Executive Director of BusinessLab, Professor of Management at the University of St Andrews and visiting Professor of Strategic Management at Warwick Business School, University of Warwick. After degrees in Economics, Business Analysis and a doctorate in Corporate Strategy, he worked in industry, at Managing Director and Finance Director levels in the engineering sector.
He has acted as a strategy coach and trainer to GEC, Philips, IBM, Nestle, Co-operative Society, Shell, Exxon, BP, Sumitomo-Lumonics, Longmans, Siemens-GPT, Ford of Europe, the Scottish Office and a host of SMEs. He is best known for his work in strategy and international business, especially in corporate recovery and has published widely in the fields of strategic management and international business.
His books include, Sharpbenders, Strategies of Growth, Inside Fortress Europe and Historical Evolution of Strategic Management. He is a past winner of the British Academy of Management Award for his research in SMEs and the IBM Award for outstanding achievement in strategy and marketing. He is a Fellow and past Vice-Chairman of the British Academy of Management.
